State Pen for Penn State

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

On November 4, 2011, Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly indicted Sandusky on 40 counts of sex crimes against young boys, following a three-year investigation into allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old boy over the course of four years, beginning when the boy was ten years old. The boy’s parents reported the incident to police in 2009.  A grand jury identified eight boys singled out for sexual advances or sexual assaults by Sandusky from 1994 through 2009.  At least 20 of the incidents allegedly took place while Sandusky was still employed at Penn State.

On November 6, two days later, Penn State banned Sandusky from campus.

I have read the indictment.  It is disgusting. I recommend you do not read it if you are prone to breaking things, like people’s necks.  Suffice it to say, Victim 5 was 7 or 8 in 1995 or ’96 when he first was recruited. Victim 6 was recommended for the Second Mile program by his school counselor. The Second Mile program for disadvantaged youth was created in 1977.

Afterthe  1998 investigation, Gerald Sandusky told investigators he was wrong to shower with boys. They dropped the charges.

It is strange that Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar never prosecuted Jerry Sandusky on child-rape charges 13 years ago, some speculate, because Gricar was known for being fiercely independent and hard on crime.

The details of Gricar’s disappearance can be found here.

Mark Madden claims: “I hear there’s a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile Foundation — and hold on to your stomachs, boys, this is gross, I will use the only language I can – that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to rich donors. That was being investigated by two prominent columnists even as I speak.”

Absolutely disgusting.

Sandusky is currently free on $100,000 bail pending trial. He could face life in prison if convicted of the charges.

Are you kidding me? 100K bail? The judge that gave him such a low bail ought to do his time when he flees. We have a missing D.A., and this judge thinks this guy isn’t a flight risk? He certainly poses a threat to the community, if these charges are accurate.

Why do I get the sense that this is going to get uglier?

It’s been widely reported that the US Department of Education is currently investigating Penn State.

The Dept. of Education? Who could they get to investigate? Maybe Kevin Jennings, he quit the department just as this was ramping up.

Why would the DoEd get involved at this late date? Certainly not to find prosecutable facts-the Penn State Police would be doing that. Maybe they have to investigate to Cover their Asses.
